The Melbourne Dog Lovers Show

On the first weekend of May, Doggy Tea Breaks visited the Melbourne Dog Lovers Show to report on the biggest dog expo in the Southern Hemisphere.

Of course we had to check out Nimble the Kelpie from AWDRI, attempting to jump over his world record height of 2.8m.

Three year old Nimble was adopted at 4 months by one of the co-founders of AWDRI, Carey Edwards.

From rescued working dogs to pampered pedigree pooches, we couldn't walk past the Ask-A-Groomer stand, without trying to kidnap the two fluffy Bichon Frises, Summer and Dash.

The Pat-A-Pooch area was a big hit for people of all ages and we just had to stop and pat Milly, who gets around with a set of wheels due to a slipped disc in her back.

Of course we mustn't forget about the dogs who served our country during war times, and the Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation (AWAMO) were there to raise awareness about the military working dogs who were trained to perform tasks such as searching and scouting, and even today perform important jobs for the Australian Defence Forces, such as sniffing out explosives in Afghanistan.

and lending a hand to Oscar's Law in their spare time.

We really did see Andrew J Morley and his dog Tessa entering the Dog Lovers Show with Debra Tranter from Oscar's Law, but as this is a dog blog we didn't want to be like rude papparazzi and ask for selfies with him!  We hope he doesn't mind us using his Instagram photo instead...
