On the first weekend of May, Doggy Tea Breaks visited the Melbourne Dog Lovers Show to report on the biggest dog expo in the Southern Hemisphere.
Photographer Cristal Cachia, along with Doggy Tea Breaks founder, Belinda Chong, caught up with many dogs, dog lovers, doggy businesses....
and we even saw a dude in a dog costume.
Three year old Nimble was adopted at 4 months by one of the co-founders of AWDRI, Carey Edwards.
From rescued working dogs to pampered pedigree pooches, we couldn't walk past the Ask-A-Groomer stand, without trying to kidnap the two fluffy Bichon Frises, Summer and Dash.
The Pat-A-Pooch area was a big hit for people of all ages and we just had to stop and pat Milly, who gets around with a set of wheels due to a slipped disc in her back.
Of course we mustn't forget about the dogs who served our country during war times, and the Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation (AWAMO) were there to raise awareness about the military working dogs who were trained to perform tasks such as searching and scouting, and even today perform important jobs for the Australian Defence Forces, such as sniffing out explosives in Afghanistan.
We spotted a few celebrities on the stage
sitting down having a break in the background
and lending a hand to Oscar's Law in their spare time.
We bumped into a few of our Pets Market stallholders
This dog was not fazed by all the noise inside the Royal Exhibition Building, and offered us her belly for a nice pat
Of course a visit to the Dog Lovers Show is a great opportunity to collect freebies and buy cool gifts for your dog
But the highlight of the Melbourne Dog Lovers Show for us, was meeting Dash the Bichon, who has the charisma of all the members of One Direction, put together inside a single dog!
Big thanks to Cristal Cachia and Hothouse Media
